HAO! A new post it shall be!
HAHA, I thought no one visits my blog anyway, hence my laziness. (Bad excuse).
Alrighty then.
So far, I have just officially ended work as a Secondary 3 math matters(thats the name of the current sec 3 students) solution typist. In simpler terms, I just ended work as a saikang king.
My job is simple. So simple you would think simple plan was complex.(yeah lame is good)
My job:
Type.Type.Type.....think a bit....on what to type and just type more. Most of the time, I have to formulate my own solutions to solve the math questions in the book. Some other times, I just need to type. Though my job sounds 'too good' to be true for some of you slackers out there reading this blog, wait till you hear the BEST PART!
I have to type all these stuff into the publishing server with an awesome, one-of-a-kind, probably the most shocking thing you have seen in a decade computer. Now let me elaborate.
First and foremost, it's a supremely laggy pentium 2 com. SMILE! :D. It was operating on windows 98 ( I wouldn't be surprised if it was windows 95.) With this kind of computer still in existence, it's no wonder I totally 'enjoyed' using that computer. For your information, I didn't even bother playing minesweeper for fear of lag, even when I had spare time.
Secondly, my microsoft word was a shocking windows 97! Woots! Let's see, I was Primary 3 then! After more than 10 years, (I have graduated from JC already), my company still refuses to upgrade that piece of scrap metal and the obsolete operating systems inside of it. WOW! At a certain point of time, I was thinking that even the 100 dollar laptops the impoverished children under the OLPC scheme(one laptop per child scheme, correct me if I am wrong), would be laughing at me and my metallic sidekick some 'working' together to defeat the evil math questions and save the world before dinnertime. At least they weren't operating on a pentium 2 processor in our current world which is already using processors like intel celeron D or windows vista or windows XP to say the least. My microsoft word didn't even have a button for BOLD. I had to press ctrl+ B to make my words bold, which I needed to do very often. Oh my tian, and microsoft word actually LAGS! Which office-standard computer actually LAGS when using microsoft word!
Last but certainly not the least, my computer crashes like free. Serious. Microsoft crashes sometimes. Windows crashes sometimes too. It's like as if they take turns crashing. Here's something I thought of. You watch!
microsoft 98 OS: Eh word, this dude type math so for about 3 hours liao leh. I think he on fire liao, want to ji siao him a bit or not?! :D
Word: HAO! :D
Me: eh, how come the stuff I type cannot be seen. sian...(went to ask my friend to help me fix the problem.)
My friend: Got save or not bro?
Me: Eh, I think I saved quite early leh, just now do until on fire liao ah, forgot to save.
My friend: Sorry dude, I also tio a lot of times. Restart com la, bo pian.
Me: ... ok lor.
microsoft 98OS + Word: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!! GREAT SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A few weeks later...after more crashes from Word...
Word: eh, now your turn la.
Microsoft 98 OS: Prepare to laugh your motherboard off. :D
Microsoft 98 OS: Your local C:\ drive has insufficient disk space. Please save your work on another drive or your work will be terminated.
Me: WTH!!!!, the C drive is more than half empty! Oh my WU ZE TIAN!!! I think I didn't save again...
IT dude: Erm, I dunno what's the problem, wait boy, I try fix it, you go do other stuff first.
After a while...
IT dude: Registry corrupted.
Me: How can that be, I am not even connected to the internet(my com doesn't even have internet access).Surely no worm or virus could have infected the computer.
IT dude: *shrugs shoulders*
Microsoft 98 OS + Word: GREAT SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *thumbs up*
Well, that sort of sums up my working experience with my computer there.
My colleagues are really not bad. There is this illusstrator there who is super jovial. Very interesting guy to talk to. And his drawing is really very cute and nice. There are also some mildly queer adults working in the company but I shall not elaborate.
The canteen vendor there is also an interesting guy to talk to. He managed to sum up his army life for my friends and I to listen. Hence, I can say I gained much more insight into the workings of the army. And my friends who worked with me, thank you for your support and the fun we had talking and gossiping. HAHA. Hope that I can find another job with such a unique working environment. PLEASE DON'T GIVE ME A PENTIUM 2 COM THOUGH! THANKS!
-Good luck to ALL 'A' Level students about to collect their results!!! :D-
